We will resume routine patient care on Monday, May 4, 2020. We appreciate your patience as we work to reschedule appointments.

As always, the safety of our patients and our staff is our top priority. The video above details some of the safety measures we have in place.

Our staff may be wearing masks. Patients are welcome to wear a mask but may be required to remove it briefly for various parts of the eye exam.

Pure&Clean Hand Prep is available throughout the office for both patient and staff use.

Equipment is being cleaned with Pure&Clean Surface Prep before and after patient use. A UV wand is also being used throughout the day.

Please refrain from handling frames without assistance from a staff member. Each frame is being cleaned with Pure&Clean before being placed back on the frame boards. Additionally, the frames are being disinfected with a UV wand at least once a day.

To decrease the number of people in the office and the amount of time patients spend in the office, we are using a virtual waiting room system. When you arrive at our office, call or text us. If you are picking up glasses or contact lenses, they will be brought out to you. If you are arriving for an appointment, you will receive a notification telling you when to come in.

Please do not bring additional people with you to your exam. Children may be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Upon entering the office, you will have your temperature checked and may be asked to sign paperwork certifying you are not exhibiting any COVID symptoms. You will then be escorted to an exam room to complete any additional paperwork. If possible, please complete new patient paperwork prior to your appointment.

We will continue to ship all new contact lens orders directly to patients.

If you are experiencing any symptoms associated with COVID-19, we respectfully request that you reschedule your appointment.

Thank you for letting us care for you and your family!

Sincerely,

Dr. John A. Essinger, Dr. James D. Fisk, Dr. Calah O. Ray, and the Vestavia Eye Care Team

The safety and care of our patients and staff are always of the utmost importance. In accordance with state and federal guidelines and at the recommendation of the Alabama Board of Optometry, we are currently unable to schedule appointments for routine eye care. However, our doctors are available for urgent and emergency appointments. If you or a member of your immediate family have a respiratory illness, fever, or have recently visited any high-risk areas within the past 2 weeks, we respectfully request that you reschedule any non-urgent appointments. We also request that you limit the number of people that come with you to your appointment.

If you are a contact lens wearer and currently have less than a 3-month supply left, we recommend that you place an order now. Due to current scheduling restrictions, we will extend contact lens prescription expiration dates on a case by case basis. Please remember, it is still important that you replace your contact lenses on time and as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Over-wearing your contact lenses puts you at risk for infection and other eye health problems. To place your order, call or text our office at 205-978-4088. All new contact lens orders will be shipped directly to you at no charge.

Do you need to order glasses? Our opticians are available to schedule private consultations. During this visit, our optician will assist you in selecting the best visual solution for your eyewear needs. Please call our office to schedule an appointment with our optician. You may also call our office to order updated lenses for your current frame or order eyewear from a previous order.

Curbside pick-up for glasses and contacts, eyewear consultations, and office visits are available by appointment only until May 1, 2020.

Thank you for letting us care for you and your family!

Sincerely,

Dr. John A. Essinger, Dr. James D. Fisk, Dr. Calah O. Ray, and the Vestavia Eye Care Team
